Barbara Wilson: My GG Grandfather was Robert McFadden. "In 1839 Robert McFadden and his brothers James, Thomas and William came out from Armagh, Ireland on a sailing vessel. Robert was just sixteen years of age and was a linen weaver. On the way over, William drowned.
Robert, James and Thomas all settled in Kent County, Ontario, Canada. Robert farmed after arriving in the county. He married Ann J.Curry. Born to these parents were six sons and two daughters: Thomas, Andrew, William, Arthur, Joseph, Walter, Sarah and Lena.
Both Ann J.Curry and her husband Robert were of the Presbyterian Faith. Robert was a member of the Orange Lodge. They had an adopted daughter Rachel Jacklin who married Thomas Arnold of Dresden, Ontario.
Robert died in Chatham Township in 1887, age 64 years. His wife was killed by being thrown from a vehicle in 1892, age 64 yrs. She is buried in the Dresden Cemetery."
We are going to Ireland in late September and planning to visit Armagh. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Shelley McFadden James
