Project Results
The results are organized into the following groups:
- E-M2 Ungrouped (1)
- I-M223 Ungrouped (1)
- I-M253 Ungrouped (3)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > CTS1751 > BY595 (3)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF1 > S6365 > L705 (1)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF21 > Z3000 > BY3171 (1)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Group 1 (4)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Group 2a (DF105 > A10526) (6)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Group 2b (DF105 > A10526) (5)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Group 3 (4)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Group 4 (2)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Patterson (5)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Ungrouped (3)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > Z251 (2)
- R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > Z253 (5)
- R-M269 > U106 (3)
- R-M269 Ungrouped (likely non-M222) (6)
- R-M269 Ungrouped (only tested 12 markers) (6)
- R-M512 Group 1 (3)
- R-M512 Ungrouped (1)
These designations are meant to identify groups of men who appear to share a lineage based on the closeness of their STR results (the strings of numbers you see for each person on the list) and also to separate groups of men who do not. We know, for example, that someone who is R-M269 cannot be of the same lineage as someone who is R-M512. These two haplogroups split off from each other so many thousands of years ago that their DNA signatures are easily distinguished. On the other hand, comparing multiple groups within R-M269 is less certain and may require SNP testing. This is where the Big Y test comes in.
Project Wish List
- (Entire Project) That any kit tested to only 12 markers upgrade to 37 markers
- (All R-M269 groups and individuals) That every member able to do so take the Big Y SNP test
- (Entire Project) That a generous person win the lottery and decide to fund all of this!
See this thread for a brief explanation of why I've recommended the Big Y: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10
Recommendations should be considered suggestions rather than demands. Please contact me with any questions.
