Re: Meaning of McFadden misinterpreted?

Given the number of separate genetic groups that our DNA project has uncovered so far, I think it's possible that the answer could be all of the above. We may very well be looking at multiple unrelated origins for the name. Difficult to speculate.

Re: Andrew McFadden (immigrated to Maine, early 1700s)

There are several people in the project that think they are descended from him, but unfortunately none of them match each other! So we're still seeking other descendants to to firmly establish which genetic signature is actually descended from Andrew.

Re: McFaddens from County Cavan, Ireland in PA and OH

Re: Welcome to the McFadden Project message board!

Candour McFadden b. 1710 is my 6th grt grandfather thru his daughter Mary McFadden. Since I am related thru his daughter, does that make it impossible for me to connect to Candour via DNA? I got my paternal uncle who would be 5th from Candour to provide a sample and since he is 91 I manage his test...

Re: McFaddens - the Canadian Connection

No problem. When you join a project, the results are automatically visible to everyone in the project (unless you choose to make them private). This allows us to pool information and provide some analysis. The group of McFaddens you are in already has multiple branches going back a few hundred years...

Re: McFaddens - the Canadian Connection

I noticed that your results have just come in. A couple things: - To start, you do match one of our groups of McFaddens. I have placed you in "R-M269 > P312 > L21 > DF13 > DF49 > M222 Group 3 ," which can be seen here: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/mcfadden/default.aspx?section=ycol...

Re: Bernard McFaden (McFadden) from County Tyrone

Hi Glenn. I've been tinkering with group labels and the lineage page is not yet updated. The important thing is that I have you grouped with one other person in the project. This person has unfortunately not been able to trace their line back to Ireland yet, and so they wouldn't yet be of much assis...
