20 years ago a lady named Leota Dixon said she had a book on McFaddens from Tanderagee and she appeared to have searched Irish church records. She left message on Geneaolgy.com. She named the patriarch Stringer b before 1777. She said Robert went to Canada with brother Stringer( though they may be sons of the patriarch.) She claimed son James m. Isabelle Magowan b 1831 and his children were Hugh, Robert, Alex, Stringer and more. Leota's e-mail address no longer works. Another lady agrees with the now on-line civil records that Hugh was the father of James. She does not find Stringer among the children, but both of James' wives named a child Hugh. Does anyone have any information on this family or on Leota and her book? The recent lady is looking for more information on MyHeritage. A posting there for free for James and Isabella (Magowan) should enable people to contact her.

Hello. I'm looking for information on a Jane Mcfadden, born in Middlesex, NJ around 1787. According to oral family history she was my third great maternal grandmother. I found a marriage record showing that she married Samuel Benjamin DeLaplaine on December 10, 1804, in Mason, Kentucky. Her father's name was Conely McFadden. I'd appreciate any guidance toward more solid information. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I am looking for information on George Edward McFadden.He was in an orphanage in Rockland County New York during the late 1800s to early 1900s. He was put into the orphanage by a man named Joseph McFadden. We do not have any information on the parents of George Edward McFadden and was wondering if anyone had any information.

I,also, am a descendent of Andrew, who was born 1675 in Scotland, moved to Ireland, married his second wife ther and had 3 sons. In 1720 he and his family sailed to Maine & settled on Merrymeeting Bay on a homestead he called Somerset. Due to danger from Indians, he moved his family to Georgetown, where he petitioned the Plymouth Co. for a land grant. I have only a little knowledge of the family linage of his sons, Andrew or Daniel, as my family descends from his son, James. This line had children in Maine, Mass., New York, Canada (near Isle LaMott in Lake Champlain) and then moved to southern MN and finally to N.D where my grandmother was born. The McFadden’s of this line served in the Rev.War, War of 1812, And the Civil War. At least one or more of the branches of my direct line settled in the area of Quebec north of Lake Champlain. I would love to hear from anyone descendent of Andrew who came to Maine. I have also asked a question on the DNA thread, for advice for finding a qualified male from our line to take the Y-DNA test.

Mary McFadden married James McLaughlin, had a son Charles McLaughlin born c 1790. Apparently they were farmers in the Leck, Letterkenny area of Co.Donegal

I am a female McFadyen from Scotland to Minnesota and I live in California. Is there a place to line up the lineage that is not just for men?
I am currently in isle of Skye searching for McFadyens with same name spelling that I understand are on isle of mull and Tyre.

I've joined Ancestry.ca recently. They hint that Robert's father was James McFadden. This makes sense because he died in Kent County, Ontario, 23 Feb 1852.

We have a complete family history back to a distance ancestor in PA. to the present for our family.
We are curious if anybody has any information back to Ireland or Scotland. Dates are accurate as they are buried in the Sugar Creek Cemetary in Venago County.

Given the number of separate genetic groups that our DNA project has uncovered so far, I think it's possible that the answer could be all of the above. We may very well be looking at multiple unrelated origins for the name. Difficult to speculate.

Hi could it not be the case (as was the case with my own father ) that the original Patrick was small in stature and was known locally as “wee Pat” or the Irish equivalent?
My own father was known as wee Pat due to his father being taller and of course younger.
I am speaking of course from a Scottish perspective as “wee” is a fairly well worn colloquialism for something or someone or something that is small.
A bit like the Americans using the term Junior and a senior if you like.
Just a thought.

There are several people in the project that think they are descended from him, but unfortunately none of them match each other! So we're still seeking other descendants to to firmly establish which genetic signature is actually descended from Andrew.
